Passiontide Music

Passiontide is the fortnight before Easter. It is the period in the   life of Jesus when he resolutely turned towards Jerusalem and faced   those who wanted to do away with him. It led to the Cross.

The anguish and the events during this time have inspired some of the most intense musical expression.

At 6.30 pm in the evening of the fifth Sunday of Lent, sometimes known as Passion Sunday, the choir sings a selection of this music, including the Allegri Miserere (arr.), the Lotti Crucifixus, Tavener's The Lamb, a moving setting of the Stabat Mater by Derek Tinsley, Ubi Caritas by Durufle, and several other musical images of this profoundly dramatic season.

You are invited to come.
