The Crucifixion - John Stainer

It has been a tradition at St Peters for several decades to sing The Crucifixion by John Stainer on the Monday of Holy Week.

Composed in 1887 for the Parish Choir of St Marylebone, London, this work has had a lasting appeal, and for many in our town and parish it marks the commencement of a week of recall and meditation as we ponder the significance of the death of Jesus and witness his encounters with his tormentors.

It is sung in its entirety, and all are invited to join in the hymns that are such an important part of the work.
